A rough drawing idea was offered by the customers and Rob Steendam drafted their initial idea into a clear design drawing and the makeover began. The item was totally pulled apart and new timber was sourced from which to mill the legs. A new drawer was also constructed and the hinges and handles were cleaned. The entire furniture piece was sanded and then stained – matching the newly milled legs and the drawer with the original timber. The customers were delighted to see this lovely old piece refurbished to something new – and the mirrors remained as part of the new statement.
A couple brought in a desk of drawers that had belonged to a family member. They did not have a use for this set of drawers – but they wanted to keep it. It belonged to a family member and they had an idea to maintain this family history, but repurpose it to a make up bureau. In particular, the customer wanted to keep the mirrors which were part of the original piece.
